This year we are making a special effort to encourage submissions in aboriginal as well as regional language spoken right across Canada, from Skwomesh to Gaelic to Furlan. 

 

Short Story in Russian Wins 2014 Rainbow Caterpillar Multilingual Kid Lit Award

Competition open to short stories for young children, supports the preservation of mother languages.

Toronto, June 17h, 2014Rainbow Caterpillar Bookshop is proud to announce that a short story in Russian is the winner of the 2014 Rainbow Caterpillar Multilingual Kid Lit Award.  Giant’s Granny, by Yulia Kapridov from Aurora, Ont., was selected from a short list of four finalists by a panel of language and industry experts.

Competition open to short stories for young children, aims to support the preservation in Canada of mother languages

Toronto, Ontario, June 24th, 2013 – Rainbow Caterpillar Bookshop is proud to announce that a short story in Hungarian is the winner of the 2013 Rainbow Caterpillar Multilingual Kid Lit Award.  When the Sun Dies, by Csilla Istok, was selected from a short list of three finalists by a panel of language and industry experts.

Short Story in Arabic wins first Rainbow Caterpillar Children's Literature in Mother Language Award

 

Toronto, Ontario, December 7th 2011 – Rainbow Caterpillar Multilingual Children's Bookshop, is proud to announce that the winner of the first of the Rainbow Caterpillar Children's Literature in Mother Language Award is Ahmad Marouf for the short story Sea of Pearls written in Arabic.

 The award is given for superior writing for children in a language other than French or English to an original unpublished story by a Canadian citizen or resident as selected by an independent blind panel of judges.
